Bishop Daniel Herzog

The Center for Healing & Spiritual Formation

The Right Reverend Daniel Herzog was ordained priest in 1971 and served in rural areas, small towns and the inner city before becoming bishop. In 1976 he restarted a closed church, whose welcoming sign read, "This is a Hospital for Sinners, not a Museum for Saints." He was elected and consecrated Bishop of Albany in 1997 and retired in 2007.

During his episcopacy Christ the King Spiritual Life Center was established with its integrated ministries. He initiated mission relationships with fellow Anglicans in Sudan, Ireland and Argentina; founded the Parish Leadership Conferences and assisted in the relocation of the Community of St. Mary, the first order of Nuns in the Episcopal Church, to Christ the King.

Bishop Dan has been active in various ministries, including - Alpha Course, healing ministries, Life in the Spirit Seminars, Cursillo, Spiritual Direction, leadership of retreats for priests, deacons and laity, and parish renewal weekends - for many years.

Since retiring he has served as interim at two parishes, until being appointed by Bishop Love to lead the healing ministry at Christ the King. He has been married to Carol for 49 years and they are the parents of five children. Their fourteen grandchildren bring much joy to their lives. Bishop Dan leans on two Scripture verses: "Apart from Me you can do nothing" and "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." [Jn 15:5 and Phil 4:13]
