In this the last of our Spiritual Formation series, we will look at personal authenticity and vulnerability in the life of the believer and what gets in the way (Psalms, Lamentations, the example of Jesus, current research from Brene Brown on vulnerability and wholeheartedness).

What else?  The place and importance of a “spiritual friend” or peer in your spiritual formation, in addition to a spiritual director. Distinguishing and ordering the number of “sustainers”, “maintainers” and “drainers” in your life. Finding a spiritual friend. Being a spiritual friend.

The place of self-care in spiritual formation- sometimes our greatest spiritual need is sleep!... or a quiet walk in a beautiful place or a talk with a friend or a hobby. We need to know ourselves well enough to understand what keeps our souls well and then give ourselves permission to build these things into our regular weekly schedules. Practical help with this is an often overlooked area of tending our heart; the need for regular trips to green pastures and still waters (Proverbs 4:23; Ps 23).
